It is an orchid native to Mexico. Its fruits, commonly called pods, produce the well-known spice. For more than two centuries, Mexico held the monopoly on vanilla. The Totonac people remained the main producers until the mid-1800s. All attempts to cultivate it outside its natural habitat initially failed, as it was not known that melipona bees played a fundamental role in pollinating the fruit.

The ZERO version of Fabbri VANILLA uses Acesulfame K and Sucralose instead of sucrose. It features an intense and persistent aroma, and is ideal for all ZERO SUGAR formulations (particularly Coffee creations).
