The innovation of Styropor® Ccycled® lies in replacing fossil raw materials with pyrolysis oil, obtained from the chemical recycling of mixed plastic waste. Through BASF’s certified Mass Balance approach, these waste materials are reintroduced into the production cycle, reducing the carbon footprint (PCF) by 90% compared to the traditional version. Despite this ecological breakthrough, the material maintains unchanged its essential properties of thermal insulation and food-contact safety. The entire process is guaranteed by international standards such as REDCERT2 and ISCC PLUS, offering a solution that drastically reduces CO₂ emissions.
